SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Demetrios I Soter, 162-150 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.00 g, 10 h), Susa. Diademed head of Demetrios I to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΔHMHTPIOY Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his left on grounded bow; to outer right, AB; in exergue, monogram of AY. CSE 1967 = A. Houghton & G. Le Rider: Un trésor de monnaies hellénistiques trouvé près de Suse, in: RN 1966, 56 = SC 1711.1 and pl. 17 (all this coin). Very rare. Beautifully toned and struck in unusually high relief. Extremely fine.
